At Dry Master Cleaning & Restoration we take a very unique and delicate approach when cleaning Oriental and Area Rugs.

In-plant rug cleaning, is usually recommended for Oriental and other loose rugs. In many cases, they should not be cleaned on location like synthetic, wall-to-wall carpet for many reasons. Dry Master Cleaning & Restoration cares for the finest to the most basic rugs from around the world. We can pick your rug up and bring it to our cleaning facility where it will receive our very thorough 11 Step Cleaning System to get maximum soil and spot removal. Having your rugs cleaned at our facility allows us to give them special attention and treatment for a more thorough cleaning, controlled drying, and the use of various tools and processes that are not available on location in your home or office.

"But I DON'T want my rugs removed

from my home or office."

It is not always practical to remove rugs from the home or business location. Many of our clients simply do not want their rugs out of their house or office. Some don't want bare floors, maybe visitors will be arriving before the rugs can be cleaned and returned, sometimes the size of the rug makes transportation impractical, and many other reasons.

Because we put our client's satisfaction above all else, we approach the situation of each of our customers with an open mind. We know that the circumstances of one's family situation are not the same conditions as the next. We make sure you feel confident in our abilities to effectively handle your Oriental and area rugs.

Not every rug needs in-plant rug cleaning and not every client is willing or able to pay for in-plant rug cleaning. That's why we also offer a very thorough IN HOME or IN OFFICE cleaning that makes sure our customers rugs get the right treatment no matter where they are cleaned.

11 Step Rug Cleaning Process

Step 1 - Pre-Inspection and Pick-up

We will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and characteristics and conditions that may affect cleaning. We will outline the expected results and our company will pick up your rug and take it to our shop, if in-plant cleaning is needed.

Step 2 - Dry Soil Removal

You would not believe how much dirt that woven and knotted rugs can hide. If fact, some rugs are purposely designed to hide dirt and dry soil. (Eureka Company studies found that a 9x12 rug could hide as much as 87 pounds of particulate soil!) We use a variety of techniques to 'dust' your rugs from the front to the back. A tool called a pile lifter, special vacuum attachments and other methods are implemented.

Step 3 - Color Fastness Test (as needed)

One of the worse situations that can occur during rug cleaning is dye migration or bleeding. Since most fine rugs are made of wool or silk, which is dyed with acid dyes, dye migration is always a concern. We will perform a colorfastness test to determine which cleaning method to employ to avoid potential color migration problems while achieving the most effective cleaning results.

Step 4 - Pre-Condition

Depending on fiber content and soiling type, your rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.

Step 5 - Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation

Any potential difficult spots will be treated with special solutions to increase the chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated with specialty fringe cleaner for maximum soil removal.

Step 6 - Deep Cleaning

Our rug cleaning professionals will perform the best possible cleaning for your rugs. The methods used range from minimal moisture to complete submersion cleaning. All cleaning methods are specially designed to get maximum cleaning while protecting sensitive natural fibers.

Step 7 - Rinse or Wash

Depending on the type of rug, it may be rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides or washed in a wash pit designed especially for Oriental rugs.

Step 8 - -Drying

Once your rug has been thoroughly cleaned, it is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage.

Step 9 - Grooming and Final Vacuuming

When the rug is dry, it is groomed in the direction of the pile with a soft bristle brush made for specialty rugs. A final vacuuming will remove loose fibers and dry soil that may have surfaced during the drying process.

Step 10 - Apply Fabric Protection (optional but recommended)

Fluorochemical protectors resist particle soiling as well as water and oil-based stains. Applying a fiber protector can enhance the performance of your rug and help keep it clean longer. Since fluorochemical coatings may be worn off over time by traffic and maintenance (e.g. vacuuming), they should be reapplied after a period of use and following professional cleaning.

Step 11 - Post Inspection and Delivery

Our cleaning specialist will give your rug a final inspection and release it for delivery. Your rug will be wrapped to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is delivered. Upon delivery, we will lay the rug for you - no work necessary by you!

How to care for your Oriental Rug

  • Rotation - To ensure even wear, your rug should be rotated once a year. Depending on traffic, the rotation may vary from six months to two years.
  • Vacuuming - Oriental and area rugs, like most carpeting, should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers. Be sure not to vacuum the fringe with your beater bar! Use the end of a vacuum hose.
  • Padding - A quality pad used under your rug helps protect it from dirt, wear and slippage.

Spot and Spill Procedures

Be sure that you safely and immediately clean up spots and spills before they set.

  • First, soak up the excess liquid by blotting with a clean absorbent material. Do not brush or rub the stain.
  • Then, spot clean with a mild detergent-white vinegar-water solution. Do not over wet.
  • Rinse area thoroughly with water and a small amount of vinegar. Avoid wetting the rug's backing.
  • Blot dry until most of the moisture has been absorbed.
  • Allow to air dry. A fan or cool hair dryer can be used to speed up the drying process.
  • For stains that do not come out using these methods, ask our cleaning specialist at 972-680-8982
