Where to See Christmas Lights in DFW 2025

The holiday season brings magic to North Texas. Whether you’re looking for a festive neighborhood drive, a cozy stroll with family, or a town wide holiday spectacle, there’s something for everyone. Below are five of the most beloved spots for 2025, including both local gems and a destination worth the drive.


Deerfield neighborhood, Plano

  • Why go: Deerfield remains one of the most famous and festive residential Christmas lights displays in Collin County, with a large portion of the neighborhood participating each year.

  • When to visit: Typically runs all of December lights on about 7:00 –10:00 PM on weekdays, and until 11:00 PM on weekends.

  • Tips: Because traffic and crowding get heavy, especially closer to Christmas, a weekday evening is best. Many people park a little away and stroll the streets instead of driving the whole loop.


Holly Jolly Celebration, Downtown Allen & Allen Heritage Village


  • Why go: This festive event offers a community wide Christmas tree lighting, lights around downtown, and fun holiday event activities, great for families.

  • When & Where: Downtown Allen (around Allen Drive & Main Street) extending to Heritage Village. Perfect for a quick, local holiday outing. Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Pro tip: Come early so you don’t miss any activities, great for families, especially with kids wanting to enjoy rides, Santa photos, or watch the annual Christmas tree lighting.


The Colony Christmas Spectacular The Colony (Drive-Through Show)


  • Why go: A nice drive through light show, easy to reach, relaxing, and perfect if you don’t want to deal with heavy foot traffic.

  • Where & What: Located at 4100 Blair Oaks Drive, The Colony; drive through the display, and nearby Liberty by the Lake Park offers spots to stretch legs or snap photos. Date: Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025 thru Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026; Time: 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. (Sunday - Thursday) 5:30 to 10:50 p.m. (Friday - Saturday)

  • Tip: Tune your radio to the station the light show uses (specified at the display) so you can enjoy synchronized holiday music as you drive.


Heritage Farmstead Museum

Plano (Lights on the Farm)


  • Why go: Heritage Farmstead Museum transforms into a winter wonderland with over one million holiday lights, animated displays, and a charming, historic property stroll.

  • When & What: The annual “Lights on the Farm” event runs late November through December (varies slightly each week) check their website for exact dates.

  • What to Expect: A quarter mile outdoor trail through the historic property, a big Christmas tree, s’mores & hot cocoa, visits and photos with Santa, light tunnel displays, and a family friendly feel.

  • Tip: Since this is a walking light display event, dress warmly and consider bringing a stroller or wagon if you have young kids it makes the stroll much easier on chilly evenings.


Gaylord Texan Resort

Grapevine (ICE! + Christmas Village)

  • Why go: For a full on Christmas extravaganza with dazzling lights, a winter-themed indoor spectacle, ice sculptures, holiday activities, and something magical for all ages.

  • When & What: From November 14, 2025 through January 4, 2026. The event includes the signature “ICE! featuring Elf” walk through, hand carved from over 2 million pounds of ice, plus two story ice slides, ice tubing, gingerbread decorating, a Christmas Village, thousands of lights, holiday music/light shows, and more.

  • What to Expect: Indoor comfort (you’ll get a warm parka for the ice area), massive ice sculptures and scenes inspired by the movie Elf, holiday treats, light shows in the resort atrium, and many activities for kids and adults alike.

  • Tip: Because this is a popular event and enclosed, plan for early tickets and consider staying overnight if you want to enjoy it without hurry. Also good for a date night, family outing, or a festive getaway.
